Do people expect gays to open every conversation with, "Hello, I'm gay, how are you"?

My boyfriend and I are definitely "manly" guys. We drink, we fart, we watch sports, we ogle cars, and we bust into fist fights every time our teams play against each other. People who don't know we're together often assume we're just roommates. But when I correct them they immediately become upset that I didn't tell them right away that I was gay. This is weird to me. Should they tell me they're straight up front? Do I need to develop a lisp and an appreciation of fashion so my sexuality is a little more flaming? Do you other macho men or girly girls get this a lot too?
