Why are so many American Christians neurotic about nudity?

Why do you think this is the case in America? In Britain and many European nations they think nothing of it, no matter what their religion is - Christian or not. The Bible never condemns it, nor does it condemn nudist beaches or resorts. The only two verses in the Bible where the nude body is not spoken of in a positive way is if you deprive your neighbour of clothes because he is cold, or to get someone drunk to ogle at them.
